Echoes from Another Time; a short story

“It all began with the footsteps"

When Ally awakes in the middle of the night to the sound of soft, unexpected footsteps, she thinks her boyfriend has come home from his travels, but instead finds herself still eerily home alone.

Quickly, things spin out of control as candles begin to burn out of their own accord, and a haunting, darkling spirit appears — leading her to discover that nothing she once believed is what it seems...

Visual Poetry; the Handwritten series

Combining photography and words together, the Handwritten series is a brand-new visual poetry endeavour (shared bi-weekly through social media) born from the desire for a more personal touch.
Written with a fountain pen, staged with props, photographed and edited, it holds the familiar verse from my previous series —touching upon nature, life and love— in both Japanese and free-form styles.

About Me

Hello, and welcome; it's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Kimberly Jolanda, also known online as Kiyo, and I’m an independent author and artist based in the Netherlands.

Having always had a passion for both art and the written word, I began sharing my Visual Poetry back in 2017, and have till now published a handful of books like the fully illustrated Dreamscape, featuring fantasy artworks and selection of various poems; the first Micro Poetry collection, Musings from a Wildflower, short poems about life and love; and more recently, Amaranthine, which holds all my haiku poems till date.

Presently I now share the Handwritten poetry series, which combine words with photography, share my Frozen Memories; shots from endless wanderings through the changing seasons, and am working on Whispers on the Wind, a compilation of ghost stories, fairytales and legends, in style alike to my freely available eBook, Echoes from Another Time.

Apart from my writing, I also enjoy my work as a designer/illustrator, creating art-work primarily for books and covers, and in my down-time can often be found curled up with a good novel (from my endlessly growing to-read list), enjoying music, or indulging my love for film and television.
